Foundations of Our Faith

The Good News!

First and foremost at Faith Bible Church, we want you to know the good news of Jesus Christ! First, the bad news: we are all sinners, dead and lost in our own selfish desires. We can do nothing good and right but turn everything to brokenness and evil. We deserve nothing more than death and eternal separation from God, our Creator and loving Father. But there is good news! Jesus came into our world. God Himself became a man and lived a perfect and sinless life. He took the punishment for our sin upon Himself and died upon a cross. But He did not stay dead. He conquered death by coming back to life. Now He calls each of us to believe in Him as our Lord and Savior and follow Him every day of our lives. We can have an abundantly joyful life in Jesus now and the hope for eternal life with Him after death.

The Statement of Faith for Our Church

At Faith Bible Church we hold to fundamental truths given by God through His inspired Word. We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. We believe that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant word of God. We believe that the purpose of all creation is to glorify God. In the sections below are the basic truths that are taught here at Faith Bible Church.

  • On the Scriptures

We believe that both Old and the New Testaments are the final written authority between God and man. We believe that all Scripture is inspired by God as He instructed human authors, using their own unique personalities and contexts, to write the texts of the Bible without error or fault. (Psalm 19.7-11; Proverbs 30.5; John 17.17; 2 Timothy 3.16-17; 2 Peter 1.20-21; 3.2)

  • On the Godhead

We believe that the one God exists eternally as one being and three distinct persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three share the same nature and attributes but are distinct in their persons and works. (Psalm 90.2; Isaiah 45.5-6; Matthew 28.19; John 1.1-4; 17.24; 1 Corinthians 2.10-11; 2 Corinthians 3.17; Colossians 2.9)

  • On the Creation and Fall

We believe that God created all things by His power and to bring glory to Himself. Man and woman were created in the image of God as His representatives to the world. However, man disobeyed God and brought the curse and corruption of sin and death upon the whole of humanity and creation. (Genesis 1.1; 1.26-28; 3.6-7; Psalm 33.6; Psalm 90.2; Isaiah 43.7; Jeremiah 32.17; John 1.3; Romans 5.12; 1 Corinthians 15.22; Colossians 1.16; Hebrews 11.3)

  • On the Sinful Nature of Man

We believe that man is completely dead in sin and separated from God. He is hopelessly lost in the corruption of his being and incapable of any good in this life; neither can he deliver himself from his deserved punishment of eternal death. (Genesis 6.5; Job 14.1-4; Psalm 51.5; Proverbs 20.9; Romans 3.23; 5.12; 6.23; 1 Corinthians 15.22; Ephesians 2.1-3; 1 John 1.8)

  • On the Work of Salvation

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, being of the same nature and attributes as God, became flesh. He became fully human without sin. He came, in obedience, to die as a perfect and sufficient substitutionary sacrifice for man. He was buried and on the third day he physically rose to life again in a glorified body. He later ascended into the presence of God the Father and awaits at His right hand until He (Jesus) returns to judge the living and the dead. (Mark 1.22; Luke 1.26-35; John 1.1-4; 1.14; 7.16; 8.52; 17.24; 1 Corinthians 15.3-11; Colossians 2.9; Hebrews 2.14-18)

  • On Salvation in Christ

We believe that Jesus by His death, burial, and resurrection secured salvation for anyone who places their faith in Jesus as their Savior and Lord. This faith, given by grace alone, justifies the believer, declaring them righteous before God. There are no works which man can perform to deliver himself from sin and eternal death or to justify himself before God. Salvation is a gift of grace received only by faith in Jesus. (Romans 3.23-24; 5.1; 5.10; Galatians 2.16; 3.13; Ephesians 2.8-9; 5.2; Colossians 1.19-20)

  • On Sanctification

We believe that those who have faith in Jesus have been set apart from this world, adopted as God's children, and delivered from sin and death by His grace. In response to this amazing salvation, we are called to be continually transformed into the image and likeness of Jesus. This is accomplished by Jesus' continuing work and grace in our lives and will one day be fully realized in His presence in heaven. (Romans 6.11-18; 8.29; 12.1-2; 1 Corinthians 15.50-57; 2 Corinthians 3.18; Galatians 4.4-5; Ephesians 1.5; 2.8-10; Philippians 2.13; 3.21; Colossians 3.8-11; 1 John 3.1-3)

  • On the Work of the Church

We believe that the people of God are called to represent Jesus to our neighbors, communities, and the world. We do this by speaking the good news of Jesus to others and by living lives that reflect the truth of Who He is and who we are now because of Him. The Church exists as a unified gathering of believers, dedicated to encouraging one another in the faith and equipping each other to live holy lives that glorify God. (Genesis 1.26-28; Isaiah 43.7; 2 Corinthians 5.18-21; Ephesians 4.11-16; 1Thessalonians 5.11-14; 1 Peter 2.9; Revelation 1.6)

  • On Baptism

We believe that Jesus instituted water baptism to be observed by all believers until His return. We believe baptism symbolizes the work of the Holy Spirit, identifying the believer with Christ in his death, burial, and resurrection. At Faith Bible Church, we encourage baptism by immersion after salvation. We believe that every believer should be baptized, not for salvation, but as a testimony of their trust in Jesus Christ before the church and the community. (Matthew 28.19-20; Acts 2.38-44; 10.44-48; Romans 6.3-7; Colossians 2.12)

  • On Communion

We believe that Jesus instituted Communion as a continual remembrance of His death, burial, and resurrection. The bread serves as a physical reminder of His body that was broken in death and the drink as His blood that was shed for our sins. By regularly observing Communion we are reminded of all that Jesus has accomplished for us and of all for which we are continually thankful. (Matthew 26.26-30; Mark 14.22-26; Luke 22.7-38; 1 Corinthians 11.20-34).

  • On the Return of the King Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ will one day return physically to the earth to establish His kingdom and to judge the living and the dead. Those who have believed in Jesus will join Him in His eternal kingdom and those who have not believed will be cast into eternal death. (John 14.3; James 5.7; 2 Peter 1.16; 3.3-9; Revelation 19.11-16; 19.20-21; 20.4-6)
